1989 Vehicle Collections

1989 Vehicle Collection Variations

There are a few variations in 1989 collections that I have come across so far. They are:

#28 Antiques Collection - The standard set includes a yellow Woody but in the variation set
the Woody is replaced with a white '36 Cord which was originally going to be in the U.S. Classics collection
An interesting point with this variation is that on the underside of the card base, a sticker has been
placed over the original contents list, showing the new contents - listing '36 Cord instead of Woody






Semi Trucks Collection #3 (Race Team) - This collection has an unusual variation to it, it involves the
Race car on the back of the flatbed semi. So far I have come across 3 different versions of this set.
The first set which I assume is the original because the wheels on the car match the wheels on the semi,
has a red/white/blue painted car, the two other variations are a pink/black car and an orange/white car,
both of which were sold as part of the Ultrafast #18 Formula Racers collection.







Sun Color Changers Collection #6 - This is another unusual variation, mainly because it is hard to pin down
what exactly the range of Sun Color Changers collections were meant to include. The first set (left) has a
red Corvette which I think was the first version, the second set (right) has a white Corvette instead, but
everything else in the collection is the same. ('57 Chevy, 747 Jumbo Jet, P-51)
Catalogue images in 1989 showed set #6 to have a red Corvette, but it also shows a Helicopter which I haven't
actually seen yet (could be prototype only?), whereas 1990 catalogues shows set #6 as having a white Corvette
and a Jumbo Jet - exactly the same as the second set I have. Currently I am unsure whether the second set is
meant to be a 1990 release, nothing about the blisterpack indicated that it was.
